Lexi Zavad
Founder & Principal
Lexi Zavad is an interior designer known for spaces that balance quiet sophistication with everyday ease. She founded her namesake studio in 2020 after a decade in high-end residential design, developing a distinctive approach defined by an eye for craftsmanship, a nuanced material palette, and an intuitive understanding of how people live.
Based in San Francisco and leading projects nationwide, Zavad approaches each project with a sensitivity to context and a focus on creating spaces that feel cohesive and enduring. Before launching her firm, she spent over four years at NICOLEHOLLIS, contributing to custom residences alongside world-renowned architects. Her projects have appeared in Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, and other leading publications.
Away from the studio, Lexi enjoys time with her husband, son and their English Springer Spaniel, Albert. A lifelong equestrian, she finds balance and perspective in horseback riding, a source of continual inspiration in her work. (LinkedIn)
Erin O’Brien
Senior Designer
Erin O’Brien is a Senior Designer at Lexi Zavad Interiors, where she leads interior architecture and design development for the firm’s residential projects. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Erin carries the sills of technical drawing, construction, and millwork. Erin’s inherent passion for Interior Design quickly flourished as her love of craft, details and art emerged as a balancing act to her technical foundation. She strives for a conceptualization into realization strategy with every project, ensuring that design intent carries through seamlessly from concept to completion across construction, remodel, and furnishing scopes of work.
Before joining Lexi Zavad Interiors in 2022, Erin spent five years at NICOLEHOLLIS, designing large-scale custom residential projects across California and Hawaii. Prior to that, she spent four years at Geremia Design, contributing to a diverse portfolio of residential and hospitality projects recognized for their rich material palettes and thoughtful artistry. These experiences deepened her knowledge of craftsmanship and the integration of architecture, interiors, and art.
Originally from New York, Erin lives with her partner and their daughter in the Oakland Hills. Spending much of their time enjoying the comfort of home while dreaming and designing personal home renovation projects with their young child in mind. (LinkedIn)
McKenna Flory
Project Designer
McKenna Flory is a Project Designer at Lexi Zavad Interiors, where she supports the design and execution of residential and commercial projects from concept through installation. With a background in interior architecture, she combines creativity with technical precision, contributing to drawing sets, material development, and design detailing across remodel and furnishing scopes.
Since joining Lexi Zavad Interiors in 2021, McKenna has been an integral part of the studio’s growth, bringing organization, efficiency, and follow-through to every project while managing day-to-day operations at the San Francisco studio. Prior to that, she began her career Restoration Hardware, where she developed her skills in client collaboration, presentation, and finish selection.
Originally from Sonoma, McKenna earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture from California State University, Chico. She now lives in San Francisco, where she finds inspiration in California’s natural landscapes and enjoys spending time outdoors. (LinkedIn)
Susan Martens
Project Administrator
Susan Martens joined Lexi Zavad Interiors as our Project Administrator in 2022, where she manages the studio’s administrative and financial operations. Her role spans billing, bookkeeping, accounts receivable and payable, vendor coordination, and travel and project logistics—ensuring that every project runs smoothly behind the scenes.
With over 20 years of administrative experience, Susan has supported executives and creative teams at companies including HBO and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Her attention to detail, organization, and calm efficiency help maintain the studio’s structure and reliability across all projects.
Susan lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their rescue dog, Sammy.
